Death Ray Machine

by Too Much Joy

Written in 1991, but never given the official studio treatment till now. Sandy had always wanted to hear this one done right, and a rare instance of everyone being A) in the same place at the same time and B) free, they bashed it out in just a couple of takes.

Gonna take more time
We’ll need a lot of money
Perfected the design
We just need the funding

I haven’t felt this safe
since before the A-bomb fell
Don’t think this is heaven
Then you can go to hell

I wanna change the world
But I can’t even change myself

Helicopters roam the golf course
Just cuz they can, I guess
Flags in parking meters each holiday
Nothing much, but we do our best

Take more time, need a lot of money
Take more time, need a lot of money

I pointed my death ray machine the wrong way

We got our own newspaper
But we borrow the opinions
Bring dinner in the den
Watch ourselves on television

Put the dishes in the sink
Kiss the kids goodnight
Tie a yellow ribbon
Round everything in sight

released March 18, 2019
Jay Blumenfield plays the guitar and sings
Sandy Smallens plays the bass and sings
Tim Quirk just sings
Tommy Vinton just drums

Recorded by Matt Noble at Riverworks and The Loft
