WE ARE NOT THE CLASH
You form a band with one intention
To get laid and get attention
OK, maybe you have several things in mind
But before you get a pay check
You must vomit in the tape deck
And accept that the results will be maligned
At first you’ll play all your creations
In assorted odd locations
For no money and for even less applause
But you can beat the competition
Needn’t be a real musician
You just need to accept all of your flaws
We aren't the Clash
Or the Ramones
We can't surpass
The Rolling Stones
We are not spiders
We're not from Mars
We're just some kids
With some guitars
Well our third gig was at a temple
Yeah, the crowd was so judgmental
Although I must admit we were not at our best
We should have known that we were doomed
When the kids all left the room
And we drove home so fucking depressed
I can’t forget the crone who paid us
She did not quite berate us
But she did ask if we’d like some advice
I don’t remember saying yes
But somone did, I guess
All she said was, “Have you tried to be nice?”
We aren't the Clash
Or the Ramones
We can't surpass
The Rolling Stones
We are not spiders
We're not from Mars
We're just some kids
With some guitars
We are not beastie
But we are boys
We're just some kids making some noise
We're neither Velvet
Nor underground
We're just some kids making some sounds

Too Much Joy Scarsdale, New York
TMJ is/was a punk-pop band of some minor renown. Some of that renown was due to their music, which included semi-hits such as “Crush Story,” “Donna Everywhere,” and “That’s a Lie” — a cover of the LL Cool J tune that featured the man himself in the music video, which actually got played quite a bit during daylight hours on MTV back when they did that sort of thing. ... more
